One of the best parts about living in the Rogue Valley is that there is always something happening. From late summer concerts under the stars to cozy fall festivals that celebrate our community, Southern Oregon comes alive in a big way during the warmer months. Whether you are a longtime local or just starting to explore Medford Oregon things to do, I put together this guide to help you plan the rest of your summer and get your calendar ready for fall.
Late Summer Highlights: Savor Every Sunny Day
With over 200 sunny days a year in the Rogue Valley, August and September are prime time for getting outside and enjoying everything this region offers. Here are a few of my favorites:
Britt Music and Arts Festival in Jacksonville
Running through September, the Britt Pavilion in historic Jacksonville hosts an incredible lineup of concerts each summer. There is nothing quite like watching live music outdoors on a warm Southern Oregon evening. This year's season has featured everything from The String Cheese Incident to Earth Wind and Fire, with performances continuing into the early fall. Pack a blanket and a picnic, and soak in the atmosphere at one of the region's most beloved traditions.
Wild Rogue Pro Rodeo
Head to the Expo in Central Point for an authentic taste of Western heritage. The Wild Rogue Pro Rodeo brings together riders, ropers, and families from all over the region for a weekend of classic rodeo action. It is a fun, family-friendly event that captures the spirit of Southern Oregon.
Hiking and Outdoor Adventures
Late summer is perfect for getting out on the trails. The outdoor adventures in Southern Oregon are unmatched, from the wildflower-covered trails at Table Rocks to the shaded paths along the Rogue River. The wildflowers may have peaked in spring, but the views of the valley and the mountains beyond are just as stunning in August and September. Bring plenty of water and start early to beat the heat.
Rafting and River Fun on the Rogue
Summer flows on the Wild and Scenic Rogue River make for excellent rafting conditions. Several local outfitters offer guided trips ranging from gentle floats to more exciting whitewater sections. It is a wonderful way to cool off, see the region from a different perspective, and spend quality time with family and friends.
"Experience makes the difference. I have helped over 1,000 families in the Rogue Valley navigate their real estate journey, and I would love to help you find your place in this incredible community."
Fall Events: Where Community Comes Together
As the heat of summer fades into the crisp air of autumn, the Rogue Valley shifts into a cozy, community-focused rhythm. Fall is one of my favorite times of year here, and the events calendar does not disappoint.
Downtown Medford Restaurant Week
Mark your calendars for October 17 through 23, when Downtown Medford Restaurant Week takes over the city. This week-long celebration of Medford's culinary scene features special menus, prix fixe deals, and unique offerings from local restaurants. It is a fantastic opportunity to try places you have been meaning to visit or rediscover old favorites. The Rogue Valley food scene has grown so much in recent years, and this event showcases just how good it is.
Pickleball Fest at Rogue X
Running from late August into early September, the Medford Rogue Rotary Pickleball Fest is a fun tournament-style event that welcomes players of all skill levels. Whether you are a seasoned pro or have never picked up a paddle, it is a great way to get active and meet people in the community.
Winter Lights Festival
Looking ahead to December, the Winter Lights Festival at Pear Blossom Park is a can't-miss community tradition. Taking place on December 6 from 5 to 7 PM, this free event features live performances, vendor booths, food trucks, a tree lighting ceremony, and photos with Santa. It is the perfect way to kick off the holiday season and experience the warmth of the Medford community on a winter evening.
Local Favorites All Season Long
Beyond the big events, there are plenty of everyday reasons to love living in the Rogue Valley. The farmers markets in Medford, Ashland, and Grants Pass run through the fall, offering fresh local produce, artisan goods, and a chance to connect with neighbors. The local wineries in the Applegate Valley and surrounding areas pour tastings all year, and fall is a beautiful time to visit as the vines turn gold and red.
And if you are new to the area or considering a move, I encourage you to explore the different communities that make up this region. Each town in the Rogue Valley has its own personality, and finding the one that fits your lifestyle is part of the adventure.
Why I Love Calling the Rogue Valley Home
After nearly 30 years in real estate and having lived and worked in markets across the country, I can tell you without hesitation that the Rogue Valley is special. The sense of community here is genuine. The natural beauty is humbling. And the quality of life is hard to beat. Whether you are raising a family, starting fresh, or settling into retirement, this region has so much to offer.
I have been helping buyers and sellers navigate the Medford Oregon real estate market for years, and I know these neighborhoods inside and out. If you are curious about what it is like to live here, or if you are ready to make a move, I am here to help you every step of the way.
Let me go to work for you.
